Hi!

This post is more positive than the last. After we said goodbye to my eldest host sister, my other host sibling, host mom, and I decided to take a trip to Sigtuna! While my host mom is amazing with history (considering she went to University regarding history), I am not 😂

Here is a short description I found on the very first page on Google when I searched Sigtuna, Sweden; Sigtuna is a town north of Stockholm, Sweden. It’s known for the stone ruins of St. Olaf’s, St. Lawrence’s and St. Peter’s medieval churches. St. Mary’s Church, built by Dominican friars, still stands in the center. Stora Gatan, said to be Sweden’s oldest main street, dates back to the time of 10th-century King Erik the Victorious. Today it’s full of shops and restaurants in traditional wooden houses.― Google

Everyone say thank you to Google :)

Sigtuna is about 45 minutes north from where I live, so after leaving the airport, we headed there. At the time, we thought it was going to be one of the last nice days of summer leading into fall, and I can say that it was very much true! When I am writing this (10/30) it is 49 degrees F at the moment, and while the sun may be out...it's not warm!

It was very packed for a Sunday when we decided to go, so it was hard to find a parking spot. Eventully we did, and then we started our day! We first walked around a couple ruins of churches that was very cool! I'm not a huge history buff, but it was very cool to see everything, especially the rune stones! (There should be some photos above!)

After walking around a few ruins, we headed towards town. Sigtuna is on the edge of an island, so you're able to see the water and walk along it. It was so beautiful! We ended up going to a few museums that had lots of history about Sigtuna, including objects recovered from the town years later when being rebuilt.

We had lunch at a nice sushi restaurant, and after decided to have a photo shoot in an archway covered in vines!

We also visited the church in Sigtuna that isn't a ruin! It was so beautiful. The sculptures and paintings were so intricate, and the cemetary that was right in front of the church was also very beautiful! Sigtuna is a nice sea-side town that was very cozy to walk around for the day! I will definitely be coming back!
