On Saturday the 14th I got the opportnity to come up to Uppala for the day!
I have two exchange student friends that live in Uppsala, and was invited up for the day for the culture fesitval they were holding! Uppsala is about an hour train ride from Stockholm, so early Saturday morning I met up with another one of my exchange friends and we headed to Uppsala! It was a nice train ride, and we talked the whole way.
Once arriving, we met up with three of our other friends and started our day! When I tell you the street full of food vendors made me want to spend hundreds of dollars! The food smelled insanely good, but the street was very packed, so we made our way through towards a Max for us to sit at and get some food before leaving.
As we were walking to the Max, a section of the street was closed off for a group of women to do a cultural dance! We weren't able to see it very well, but since I'm taller, I saw a little bit of it! We made our way to Max, had lunch, and then walked towards some different activites.
First, we decided to check out the Uppsala Cathedral. It was so beautiful. Thus far, I haven't seen anything that compares to it, and have already been back once since. There are many photos attached of how truly beautiful it was. We spent quite a lot of time in the Cathedral, looking at all the different historical artifacts and listening to the organ being played. We also had a photo shoot!
After leaving the Cathedral, we walked around a couple food trucks and got some churros to share. While we ate churros, we took a trip to one of my friends' school! It was super pretty! One thing about the schools here in Sweden is that most are in very old, historical buildings, much like my school building. Not every school is like this, but majority since most of the buildings here are older and have not been rebuilt, seeing as there is not reason for them to be.
After hearing that Uppsala University had a large library, we decided to stop there! It was a nice place to rest after walking around all day, and it was nice and calm. After that, the friend and I that traveled together decided we were getting tired and were ready to head home. We said our goodbyes and headed back to Stockholm.
Before we parted ways, though, we decided to stop and get dinner in Stockholm! We went to a place called Flippin' Burgers! It was so good. Their burgers were absolutely amazing, and so was the service! We ended our day around nine that night, and headed to our houses.
It was an amazing day, and I am very excited to go back as often as I can!
