Hi all! I hope you're staying warm, wherever you are! It's been snowing nearly everyday for the past week here in Stockholm!
This is a very exciting post, not only because it is an experience happening here in Sweden, but also because this was my first ever Comicon! If you don't know what Comicon is, congratulations, you're not a nerd! I'm just kidding! ...Sort of.
Comicon is a comic book convention or comic con is a fan convention emphasizing comic books and comic book culture, in which comic book fans gather to meet creators, experts, and each other. Commonly, comic conventions are multi-day events hosted at convention centers, hotels, or college campuses.
Basically what happens at Comicon is nearly, if not all, participants cosplay different characters! Some are simple, like you'll see mine is, or more intricate, like some of the ones I saw at Comicon! There are also a lot of vendors, selling everything from plushies and stickers, to paintings and handmade figurines. This trip was planned early October, and it was something my friends and I were looking forward to!
Especially since two of my friends from Gothenburg came down to Stockholm to go with us! They came down Friday and stayed until Sunday! It was so amazing to see them again, and I can't wait for you to read about what we got up to!
Friday night, after everyone arrived, we had a reservation to go bowling! It was the first time I was able to bowl here in Sweden, and it was so nice! (Not to brag, but we played two games and I won both 🥳) We ordered food, bowled, laughed, danced to music, and had an absolutely amazing time! We have lots of photos from that night!
After bowling, we made the treck back to my place as my friends form Gothenburg and Norrköping were staying with me! We got ready for bed, and mentally prepared for the busy day ahead of us! Saturday morning we woke up pretty early, had breakfast, and started to get ready! Although, about an hour before we were going to leave, I started feeling under the weather. I was hoping it would pass, but it never did. I was sadly chained to my bed, and slept nearly the whole day while my friends were off having fun at Comicon. Luckily, after nearly anohter six hours of sleep, I was finally feeling better! We had dinner together that night with some other friends, and everyone talked about what had happened that day. As Sunday morning rolls around, I'm feeling 100%! I got ready in my cosplay, and we headed to Comicon!
Oh! I forgot to mention who I was cosplaying. My bad...I cosplayed as Alan from The Hangover! On brand for me? I think so. As you'll see in the photos of me, I had a wig and beard on, as well as a baby bjorn on...who was my baby, you ask? Oh, the pillow of my mother's face her best friend so kindly gave me as my going-away present 😂 While I didn't get recognized at Comicon, my friends kept laughing when they saw me, as I call it a win!
Comicon was such an amazing experience, and I would absolutely love to go back! We are already talking about going again this spring! I didn't get much from Comicon, just some pins for my Rotary jacket! There was one thing I wanted, though, that my friends had to contastantly talk me out of getting. You'll literally never guess what it was, so I won't make you guess. It was a 6ft tall duck plushie. It was as tall as I am. After I saw it, I needed it, much like the pumpkin hat.
Thankfully my friends talked me out of it, bringing up the fact that I do not live here in Sweden, and somehow I will need to take the giganic thing home with me back to the US. As heartbreaking as it was, I knew they were right.
Overall, Comicon was amazing! I saw so many amazing cosplays, met so many amazing people, and had so much fun with my friends.
Talk soon!
Älskar dig!
